Verified ReviewerI want to exit my Time share
Don't buy anything from this company. They don't tell you when you buy, you can't get out of the contract, it will be pass down to your kids and family members.
. because I lost my wife 2016 and it's just a waste of money. We didn't always get what we wanted either. The maintenance fees keep going up.
My maintenance fees started at 200 dollars a year to 700 dollars a year.
It's causing a hard ship for me. I am almost 78years old and on a fixed income
My time share is fully paid off and I am currentl on all fees, but I want to cancel because I no longer use it. My wife was my travel partner. She passed away 2016 after battling cancer, and I have not use the time share since then.Despite this Capitol Vacations is demanding two years of maintenance fees as an exit fee before they 'll let me cancel.
Over the years maintenance fees have risen steadily making it an even bigger financial burden for me.
This has been incredibly frustrating and unfair especially given my circumstances. I just want to be done with this time share, yet Capitol Vacations is making it difficult as possible.
User's recommendation: Don't buy anything you can not get out of
Do not trust the photos or verbal promises – The accommodations we were offered looked nothing like the listing or what was described to us by the sales rep. Always ask for written confirmation of roo
We booked a vacation through Capital Vacations expecting what was clearly advertised as a two-bedroom suite, suitable for hosting family and enjoying a comfortable stay. What we received upon arrival was nothing short of a bait-and-switch a small, outdated single-room unit with a Murphy bed blocked by a couch and decor straight out of the 1980s.
We flew in from out of town, expecting a restful holiday.
Instead, we were appalled by the condition of the accommodations, which were completely misrepresented. It was uninhabitable and unacceptable, so we were forced to spend thousands of dollars on a last-minute hotel, rental car, and lost vacation time. We never even stayed at the Capital Vacations property.
To make matters worse, when we called Capital Vacations' customer service, the representative initially refused to escalate the matter. We were told that because our $299 booking was outside the 30-day window (we booked on December 21), we were not eligible for a refund even though we only discovered the misrepresentation upon arrival.
We were also offered a gift card instead of a refund, which was not acceptable, considering we paid in cash and incurred additional expenses due to their false advertising.
Despite never attending a presentation, we were told we had to complete a tour to even be eligible for certain refunds again, a completely irrelevant requirement for a product that was not delivered as advertised.
We were ultimately refunded only $132, and are still owed $299, plus damages related to our alternative lodging. Our total out-of-pocket loss is nearly $4,000, and Capital Vacations has done nothing to make us whole.
Bottom line:
Capital Vacations misled us, cost us thousands of dollars, and failed to take responsibility.
This experience was infuriating, disappointing, and financially draining. Avoid at all costs.
We are currently pursuing this matter through formal complaint channels, including the Better Business Bureau, Attorney General, and FTC.
User's recommendation: Do not trust the photos or verbal promises – The accommodations we were offered looked nothing like the listing or what was described to us by the sales rep. Always ask for written confirmation of room type, square footage, and number of beds before booking. Avoid paying in advance – We paid $299 upfront in December and were later told that because we didn’t cancel within 30 days (even though we didn’t stay), we weren’t eligible for a refund. Never pay upfront without a clear and fair cancellation/refund policy in writing. Skip the “free” offers or discounted vacation deals – If it sounds too good to be true, it is. These “promotional” packages often come with hidden obligations, misleading terms, and the risk of timeshare-style pressure tactics. Don’t rely on customer service escalation – When we tried to resolve the issue, we were met with dismissive responses and resistance to escalating the call to a supervisor. Document everything and be prepared to take complaints outside the company (BBB, FTC, Attorney General). Read online reviews before booking – Many other customers have had similar experiences with Capital Vacations. A quick search will show a pattern of poor customer service and misrepresentation. Let our experience be a warning. Use a credit card — not cash or debit – Credit cards give you better fraud protection and chargeback options if the service is not as described. If something feels wrong, walk away – Don’t feel pressured to go through with a presentation or “deal” that doesn’t feel right. Trust your instincts.

See the Sea, San Diego, March 5-12, scaffolding covering our master bedroom view
Capital sad they are not responsible for the scaffolding obstructing our ocean view for 6 days because it was outside the unit and they arent responsible!
So no help from Capital!

Capitol said they are not responsible for outside the unit. We spoke with the manager at See the Sea and the owners of Capital and neither says they are responsible
User's recommendation: Never stay there again

Verified ReviewerComplaint with your sales people
I am here at Villas of Sedona. Very nice facility; just a few complaints but I am not addressing that in this email.
We attended an owners meeting today at Capitals request. Everyone is nice until we say we do not want to upgrade our silver membership to gold then its like we are dismissed. I dont appreciate being treated poorly when I say no. We were told we got a $100 Amex gift card for attending the meeting.
When we left the receptionist said she had no gift for us? Until we mentioned Robert said we were to get one then she checked and said oh yes I see Robert put that in your file so they did give us the card. We were told in the other meetings that we had unlimited goal weeks; today Denette (sic) said oh no you only have 5 weeks. When I get home I am gonna check my paperwork because I know in the past we were told we really werent entitled to unlimited go weeks but we got them because they gave them to us when we signed up in Branson.
Why is there always a different story every time we attend an owners meeting?
I want to believe Capital is a good company but each time its a different story and when we say we want to stay where we are they stop talking to us and drop us like a hot potato. I guess I can post my angry feelings on social media and see if anyone else has been treated like we have when you say no.

Questions of GIFT OF DEED
Everyone was extremely helpful and courteous during my call. Upon assisting me us when the push to sell began.
I did it because the agent that helped me was wonderful although I had no plans to commit or buy anything. The young lady selling the timeshare explained the cost of $299 the $200 refund upon registering when used. No mention of added tax or the $30/night at resort.
I did end up purchasing and spent $329 for 2 vacations which was frankly a great deal. My advise is the full scope of transaction should be spelled out from the start and not left to the final approved as when a surprise added gist is mentioned the trust w the deal is questioned.

Verified ReviewerResolved: HUGE MISTAKE!!!
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology.
We bought an introductory package while on vacation in Branson, MO. When we went to use it, we were informed each time we stayed somewhere we were required to go to a 90-minute presentation.
If you refuse, they penalize you with an additional charge ranging from $295 to $495. And it's a nightmare to get it taken off your credit card! These are extremely bad business practices; all smiles while they try to pick your pockets.
They were all well-practiced liars and thieves in our experience. Their so-called resorts are a total joke, and they nickel and dime you to death!
- Bait and switch endless beaurocray to get anything done

We were not told our fees would go from 42.00 dollars a month to 504.00 dollars a month! Totally lied to! Will wait for a call before we contact BBB !

Verified ReviewerWARN OTHERS!
Just don't! This company is the worst!
First of all, they lured us in with offers of a voucher for a steakhouse, for just a few minutes of our time to attend a presentation. We accepted the invitation, but instead of simply a presentation, it was an intense sales pitch, practically holding us hostage until we consented to purchase a timeshare. We repeatedly declined because we were not interested, but they weren't taking no for an answer. Now we are stuck with a timeshare that we cannot get released from.
The maintenance fees are ridiculous, and it is far from being an economical or affordable way to travel. You have to jump through their hoops if you are even lucky enough to find accommodations where you want to go! We have tried every way to get out of this, but they refuse to work with us. We can't get a hold of anyone when they call and leave messages.
It is all just ridiculous! Save yourself a lot of money and heartache and never get near this company!

Verified Reviewer |No Contact
No matter whom we reach out to, our concerns are consistently ignored, and no one is willing to help. Our attempts to cancel our timeshare have been repeatedly denied simply because we still owe money.
If this timeshare is truly as valuable as claimed, it should be possible to resell it. Unfortunately, the staff we've dealt with so far have been unhelpful, and we're now requesting that someone with the proper authority contact us to assist in canceling our timeshare.

Horrible Company
I deeply regret my experience with Capital Vacations. For over a year, Ive tried to address my dissatisfaction with my timeshare, but they refuse to consider my situation or allow me to surrender it.
I was misled into attending what I thought was a training session, only to face hours of high-pressure sales tactics and confusing information. Despite saying no multiple times, they kept pushing.
The costs are far beyond my means, and the offerings dont align with my needsmost destinations are just hotels with high prices, and the online portal is frustrating to use. I feel trapped and overwhelmed.
User's recommendation: Never do a timeshare.

Verified Reviewer |Terrible capital vacations experience and monsterr vacations
We paid $100 to Spinnaker to arrange a vacation. We were told that we would receive this payment back upon our meeting. Then, we had to make a booking with Monster, which cost us another $150. So, a refund of $250 was expected. We received a four-day-three-night stay at Capital Vacations at the Maritime Beach Club Resort in North Myrtle Beach. We were informed that we needed a credit card for our check-in at the hotel. Although I possess a credit card, it was misplaced during our trip to your resort from Mississippi. I tried calling the hotel and they confirmed that we didn't need a major credit card to stay with them. Comforted, we attempted to connect with Capital Vacations over the phone several times, even walking up to their office located in a strip mall in a building no larger than GameStop. However, none of the Capital Vacations staff responded, despite some walking past me and others merely glancing at me without speaking. I ultimately left without getting any help.
On the day of the meeting, we arrived early to question them again. The staff handed us a form to fill out. Although we didn't have a physical card, we did have a digital card. However, the attitude of the staff was highly unprofessional, short and rude. We weren't given any chance to explain. They quickly dismissed our questions and concerns, and referred us to another person, while continuously staring at us the whole time. This person told us we needed to reschedule to get our refund. Even though we were there and could prove we had a card, the staff made my wife extremely anxious to the point she had a panic attack. We left the meeting soon after calming her.
I promptly called both you and Monster to report the incident, and how poorly I was treated. I was then informed that there was nothing that could be done. I was told that the only way to get our refund was through Capital Vacations as they were the ones controlling it. Moreover, I was told by your staff that these trips are for the less fortunate! I tried calling the customer service desk at Capital Vacations, but my calls were forwarded to a voice mail. I detailed my experience and left my contact information. Regardless, I will not be engaging with these unprofessional companies again.
- Motel staff was very nice
- Deceived by small room small bed
- Not being heard after having complaints
- Meeting staff was rude and belittling and jerks

Verified ReviewerWe were informed presentation would be 1&1/2 hours. It was 3.
First presentation. Brief information.
Watched group video. Back to first presentation, explaining the program. Went to see model. We said no to the program.
Second representative gave us so much information, my head was spinning. Too much information overload. But we were told these extra options are only good for today. Push, push, push.
The answer is still no. Here comes the exit representative. Still no.
After 3 hours, we were out the door. One positive, we were given a gift card.
User's recommendation: Stay away.

Capitol Vacations lied to me and my wife. They didn't tell us we were stuck with the time share
